Power Supplies - Retail Businesses Suffer Power Outage
Stamford High Street suffers power cut in the busiest tine of the year.
On 17 December shops on Stamford High Street were hit by a power cut affecting most of the High St and the adjacent area.
This couldn't have come at a worst time, when retail was already suffering from a lower than expected Christmas sales period.
The black out lasted most of the working day, wiping out much needed peak sales.
Although engineers arrived to try and restore power, such power failures at busy trading times inevitably caused serious disruption to local businesses, losing turnover that can't be retrieved.
Only the larger nationally known stores in the area were able to continue trading as they had emergency standby generators which supplied power automatically when the outage occurred.
